Do you speak English? is a project I initiated with writer and Frieze d/e editor Jennifer Allen following a column she wrote on Frieze magazine, to which I responded. It is about the linguistics and politics of English as spoken and written in the art world, by mostly non-native speakers. It evolved into a panel talk held as part of the 2011 Frieze Talks programme, also with filmmaker and cultural historian Nana Oforiatta-Ayim and curator Adam Szymczyk.
